The internet and bookshop shelves are littered with advice on the how-to of sales; everyone from Dale Carnegie (yes I am that old); to Richard Branson, Jim Collins and Stephen Covey has the secret to sales success. But I think the real deal can be found on the street.

Stop at a street light or robot anywhere in South Africa and you are swarmed upon like bees on honey by flag waving patriots of every soccer-playing nation.  These guys have mastered the fundamentals of salesmanship and remind us (or teach us) that by getting the basics right we are more than halfway to scoring.

You can keep your Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos; this winter the only two ‘must-haves’ is a South African flag and a vuvuzela!

Around the country South African flags wave a colourful welcome to the world from shop windows, homes, social networking sites (thanks to twibbon) and most notably on our roads where flags are hoisted from car windows and hug side mirrors.

Our nation has been gripped by the ‘gees’ (spirit) and excitement to be the first African country to host the FIFA Soccer World Cup! It’s a pretty big deal and it’s doing more than putting us on the map – its igniting our patriotism.

Our team showed Table View our ‘gees’ during the nationwide call to trumpet vuvuzelas at noon today.

Noelene Abrahamse joined Power of 9 in July 2005 as Catherine’s personal assistant. She soon showed her true colours and her passion for creating and managing perfect events shone through.

Over the past 5 years Noelene has assisted Catherine and the creative team in putting together myriad events, from product launches at the Labia, to Survivor evenings at Ratanga Juntion, to awards ceremonies at Emperor’s Palace to an amazing race around Cape Town.

Noelene has also organised exhibition stands for our various clients at shows ranging from Decorex and Homemakersto Propak and Career Expos.

As of June 2010, Noelene is Power of 9′s events and exhibitions manager. We wish her nothing but success!
