The Desmond Tutu TB Centre at the University of Stellenbosch asked us to create a character to help educate rural youth about tuberculous (TB).
We named the character ‘Turbo Boots’ and designed him to not only appeal to the target audience, but to embody vitality, youth, happiness, awareness and good health.
After a brainstorming session and a few rough sketches, we came up with the first draft of Turbo Boots. We finalised his look by adding some healthy weight, refining his features and adding colour. We needed to to incorporate the University of Stellenbosch in the design so we used the university’s team colours in his soccer kit.
